Girl-Kind North East project

16th March 2018

A short film made as part of the Girl-Kind North East project – in which students from St Wilfrid’s took part – was screened at the Festival of Women’s Film in the North East on Saturday 10th March.

‘Cleo’, which explores the impact on young women’s well-being of catcalling and street harassment, was selected for the Festival’s programme by the Young Women’s Film Academy who curated the event. The Festival was held to celebrate International Women’s Day and featured films about women and girls MADE BY women and girls. Year 10 Girls from St Wilfrid’s and Sacred Heart High Schools devised the theme, created the characters, developed the script and then filmed ‘Cleo’ in a day-long filmmaking workshop in early October, and the film premiered at the Girl-Kind Day of the Girl event held at Northumbria University.
