Year 10 GirlKind film shortlisted for the North East Young Filmmakers Awards!
‘Cleo’ is a film created by year 10 girls from St Wilfrid’s and Sacred Heart. It was created as part of the GirlKind project organised by Newcastle University and Northumbria University. The project and film explores the issues that young girls face growing up in urban areas of the North of England in terms of life expectancy, poverty and educational outcomes. Girls also wanted to tackle issues that they face such as gender stereotyping, harassment, unwanted sexual touching, and pressures regarding physical appearance.
The project The film was devised, filmed and edited by the all-girl team at Little Big Butterfly in Newcastle.
The awards will take place 31st May at the Customs House.
Congratulations to all of the girls who took part in the project and in particular to Charlotte Jones and Holly Purvis who were key students in the making of the film.
