Drama

The course consists of a two year GCSE Drama Course (Exam Board AQA) in which students can explore three different components; core Drama/ acting skills/ Knowledge and Understanding, scripted practical work and devised practical work. Students may work on scripts such as Two by Jim Cartwright and Blood Brothers by Willy Russell as well as creating their own original issue- based devised drama pieces. Students will have the opportunity to prepare for the final written exam through introductory Drama workshops exploring core acting skills through to genres of drama to name but a few. This means the course is easily accessible to an experienced performer as well as a complete beginner. Students will also attend different theatres around the North-East to experience different Drama performances from amateur theatre through to professional companies. Students often get the opportunity to watch travelling companies who visit our school. The course demands a high level of commitment due to the quality of the research and exploration needed during independent study to reach aspirational target grades as well as dedication to the rehearsal process. Students can take comfort in working as part of a team throughout the course.
