Expressive Arts

The course consists of a two year GCSE Expressive Arts Course (Exam Board AQA) in which students can opt to explore Marriage, Evolution, Fairytales, Myths and Legends and Self in Society to name but a few topics through the use of the art forms: Drama, Dance, Music, Visual Image, Moving Image and Original Writing. Key Stage 4 involves workshops in key drama/ dance techniques, puppeteering, mask, mime, etc. Students create a Portfolio of work consisting of exploration of research of their chosen piece and evidence how the project develops over the allocated hours. There is a final practical exam. The course demands a high level of commitment due to the quality of the research and exploration needed during independent study to reach aspirational target grades as well as dedication to the rehearsal process.
