History

At GCSE level we study History using the Edexcel Examinations Board. Students study for three examinations, which cover four historical topic areas.

Paper 1: Medicine in Britain, c1250-present and The British sector of the Western Front, 1914-18: injuries, treatment and the trenches. This is a thematic study allowing students to investigate changes in the ideas about causes, prevention and treatment of disease and illness over time.

Paper 2: Early Elizabethan England, 1558-88 and Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941-91. This encompasses a British depth study and a period study, allowing students to investigate different aspects of both International Relations and British Elizabethan society.

Paper 3: Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918-39. This is a modern depth study, allowing students to develop a thorough understanding of Weimar and Nazi Germany, and use this knowledge to analyse sources and interpretations of the past.
